Guide to tying a long scarf (the pretzel knot)

Long scarves are a great accessory for cooler weather, and our versions in vintage kimono silk with handrolled edges  are even more ideal for travel!

Silk's thermoregulating properties make it suitable for both warm and cold days, and these lightweight scarves are easily packed into a jacket's pocket.

There are plenty of ways to wear scarves - our favourite knot however, is one that we call the pretzel. As a doubled over knot, it provides extra warmth, and the little twist at the end adds some volume and character.

Here is our guide to tying the pretzel knot. A video version can be found on our Instagram post here.

1. Fold the long scarf into two, with the edges roughly equal.

2. Place the loop over your neck.

3. Take one edge of the scarf and place it through the looped end.

4. Twist the looped end 180 degrees.

5. Insert the other edge of the scarf through the twisted loop end.

6. Adjust the tightness of the knot by pulling both edges till it sits as snugly on your neck as you'd like.

7. Done!
