When it's searingly hot outside but you'd still like dress up, a lightweight and breathable neckerchief can be a practical choice for casual outfits.
Our versions come in lightweight, washable cottons featuring natural dyes that age gracefully, softening in both colour and feel with repeated washes.
If you already know how to tie a four-in-hand knot, congratulations - you know how to tie a neckerchief! If not, here is our guide to tying a neckerchief. As always, a video version can be found on our Instagram post here.
1. Fold the (square) neckerchief into a triangle first, then fold the corner downwards, roughly in the middle.

2. Roll the neckerchief over itself downwards, all the way to the end. The tip that was folded down in step 1 should now be tucked within this roll.

3. Twist the rolled neckerchief in opposite directions at both ends. It does not have to be too tight.

4. Drape the neckerchief over your neck, with one edge approximately 3" (7.5cm) longer than the other. At this point, you will begin to tie a four-in-hand knot. Take the longer end (on my left in the photo) and loop it over the other end.

5. Bring the edge upwards between your collar and the neckerchief.

6. Insert the edge into the horizontal part of the loop you created, and tighten by tugging on both ends. Unlike a four-in-hand with a necktie, you want the edges to roughly lay side by side instead of front and back.

7. Done!

With collared shirts, we prefer the neckerchief to sit against the skin, which protects the shirt collar from sweat. With T-shirts and a jacket, the neckerchief can protect the jacket collar from sweat too.
